We’re thrilled to introduce two incredibly talented artists who will be adding their unique creativity to Trail with a Tale.
Date published: 14 May 2025
Both artists bring something truly special to the trail, let’s meet them…
Tom Payne – Bold, International Abstract Artist
An international-selling abstract artist based in the UK, whose bold and dramatic work is catching the eye of collectors worldwide. Published for the past five years, Tom has already built up a strong collector base and achieved major milestones in his artistic journey.
His work has been commissioned and created in the Dubai desert, where he used natural sand to build texture, a nod to his signature style of layering gritty, earthy materials onto canvas. He’s also had work exhibited in Montmartre, Paris.
Never one to shy away from experimentation, Tom has painted everything from boats to custom snowboards, always pushing the boundaries of abstract art. His inspiration comes from nature and space and he blends this with influences from his local Warwickshire countryside, the Devon coast, and time spent in the Dubai desert.
Tom’s paintings aim to stir emotion and spark connection. He uses rich textures and contrasting colours to evoke dramatic skyscapes, seascapes or cosmic dreamscapes.
For Trail with a Tale, Tom will be painting one of our gazing hare sculptures and we can’t wait for you to see how his explosive abstract style transforms it into a truly captivating work of public art.
“I am very proud to be working with @demelzacharity for the @trailwithatale charity sculpture trail.” – Tom Payne

Kerrie Kent – Brave Heart, Bold Art
Kerrie Kent is a local artist whose work is as heartfelt as her story. Born with congenital heart disease, Kerrie has undergone seven open-heart surgeries in her lifetime. In 2021, her life took a frightening turn when she contracted sepsis caused by infective endocarditis. Her survival was uncertain but after several more heart surgeries and 20 days in a medically induced coma, she pulled through against the odds.
In 2016, Kerrie began designing ‘brave’ merchandise to raise awareness and connect with others living with heart disease. That small idea grew into the Gold Hearted Club, a powerful community that uses art and storytelling to support people through their own medical or emotional challenges.
Kerrie now pours her journey into her art, creating paintings and pottery that reflect hope, courage, and connection. Whether it’s through a heartfelt gift or a conversation sparked by her work, she uses creativity to uplift others and encourage meaningful dialogue.
Every piece she sells helps support the British Heart Foundation, a charity close to her heart that funds vital research and care for those with congenital heart conditions.
For Trail with a Tale, Kerrie will be painting one of our 3ft stargazing hare sculptures. Her sculpture will be raffled during the trail, with all proceeds supporting Demelza. (more details to follow).
