What is a Trail with a Tale?

Over the summer of 2025, a band of hares and slow, but steady tortoises will form a unique, family-friendly outdoor trail for all ages to enjoy. Our stunning sculptures, designed by local artists, will shine bright around the Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre and local parks, bringing together the community for an event they will not forget!

Small sculptures – adopted and decorated by schools, colleges and community groups will also join in on the fun as part of our learning programme, whilst businesses have the chance to sponsor a sculpture themselves!

We’re proud to be partnering with leading producer of art trails, Wild in Art, in aid of Demelza Charity who care for extraordinary children with serious or life-limiting illnesses. Following the trail, each sculpture will be auctioned off to raise vital funds for Demelza and continue the legacy of a Trail with a Tale.

We’re calling trail explorers of all ages to join us in rediscovering Royal Tunbridge Wells by being a part of our trail! Share your snaps with us on social media by tagging us @trailwithatale!

Why a hare and tortoise?

The hare and the tortoise is one of Aesop’s best known fables and teaches that perseverance and determination win the day.

Having a child with complex medical needs comes with it’s own additional challenges but, like the tortoise, Demelza is determined and consistent in providing care that doesn’t back down to extraordinary children and their families – from first diagnosis and for as long as they’re needed.

A Wild in Art Event
