This sculpture is a heartfelt tribute to strength, resilience, and the enduring power of love. Adorned with delicate dog roses — a wild and beautiful English plant — the design symbolises both vulnerability and courage. Nestled among the blooms are small gold hearts, each one a quiet marker of Kerrie’s personal journey through seven open-heart surgeries.

Every brushstroke tells a story of perseverance, and every golden heart is a reminder of the quiet battles so many face. Painting this hare was Kerrie’s way of giving back — donating her time and skills in support of Demelza, a charity whose services mean the world to families navigating their own challenging paths.

Through this piece, Kerrie hopes to inspire hope, honour resilience, and celebrate the extraordinary strength found in everyday people.

Demelza’s Trail with a Tale Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. By entering Demelza’s Prize Draw, you agree to be bound by these terms. All participants must comply with the rules outlined below.

  1. By entering the prize draw, all participants will be deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. All entry instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions.
  1. This prize draw is OPEN to all UK residents including employees of Demelza, their families and agents. However it is NOT open to any employee, company or agent directly connected with the administration of the prize draw system. 
  1. Entrants must be aged 18 or over to participate.
  1. We will provide two methods of entry:

Paid method of entry, please visit demelza.org.uk and click on ‘Enter here’ or  visit uk2.emma-live.com/trailwithatale/prize-draw
Each £2 entry fee will receive one entry into the draw. Follow the instructions to enter your full legal name, contact and payment information and complete your online payment. Once the payment is complete you will receive confirmation of your entries. We will not accept cash payments.

Alternative method of entry, please write or type your full legal name, home address (no post office box addresses accepted), city, postcode, phone number (optional), email address and the full name of this draw – Trail with a Tale prize draw – on either a postcard or letter. Post the completed entry to Demelza, Rook Lane, Bobbing, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME9 8DZ. There is a limit of one (1) entry per outer mailing envelope or postcard/letter. Each entry received will be equivalent to a single entry into the Trail with a Tale prize draw.

  1. Only accurate and complete entries submitted and received during the entry period are eligible. Any inaccurate, incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or untimely entries are void and ineligible to win. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Demelza. Demelza is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, mutilated, delayed, postage due, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, misdirected, technically corrupted or garbled entries, or for other submission problems of any kind, whether caused by mechanical, human or electronic error, all of which are void and ineligible to win. Additionally, Demelza is not responsible for any telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties.
  1. There is no cumulative maximum number of entries that any one person can obtain. However, in the respect of the paid method of entry only, Demelza reserves the right to introduce an entry limit at any time.
  1. As part of our commitment to social responsibility, Demelza reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone suspected of being underage or unable to make an informed decision.
  1. Demelza reserves the right to limit the number of entries per individual if there is reason to suspect problem gambling, fraud, money laundering, or any other illegal activity.
  1. Entrants must not use multiple email addresses or identities to enter the draw and doing so may void all entries.
  1. The prize for one winner is a unique hand-painted small hare sculpture designed by artist, Kerrie Kent [approx. 93cm tall, 35cm wide].
  1. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.
  1. Delivery of the prize will be arranged to a UK mainland address [exc. Northern Ireland]. Winners outside of this area will be required to arrange their own courier or collection.
  1. The prize draw opens on 11 July 2025 and closes on 30 September 2025 at 7pm.
  1. The winner will be selected at random using a random number generator from all valid entries received.
  1. The draw will take place on 30 September, and the winner will be notified by email or phone. If Demelza is unable to contact the winner due to invalid contact details or other reasons after 72 hours, an alternative winner may be selected.
  1. By entering the prize draw, you consent to Demelza publishing your first name initial, surname and town on our website and social media channels if you win.
  1. The winner will not be obliged to participate in publicity related to the prize draw.
  1. This prize draw is not endorsed, sponsored, or administered by Facebook, nor is Facebook associated with this promotion. Facebook bears no responsibility for entrants or participants.
  1. Demelza reserves the right to update, amend or revise these terms and conditions at any time.

Trail with a Tale Photo Competition – Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility
This competition is open to all UK residents aged 18 and over. Employees of Demelza Charity and associated partners, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.

2. How to Enter
To enter, participants must:

  • Take a fun or creative photo with one of the Trail with a Tale sculptures.
  • Post the photo on Instagram or Facebook.
  • Tag @TrailwithaTale and @DemelzaCharity, and include the hashtag #TrailwithaTale in the caption.
  • Ensure the post is public so it can be viewed by the organisers.

3. Entry Deadline
All entries must be posted by 11:59 PM on 9 September 2025. Entries posted after this time will not be considered.

4. Prize
One winner will receive a £100 voucher. The voucher type will be selected by the organisers and is non-transferable and non-exchangeable. There is no cash alternative.

5. Winner Selection
The winner will be chosen based on creativity, originality, and relevance. The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. Notification
The winner will be contacted via direct message on the platform they entered (Instagram or Facebook) within 7 days of the closing date. If the winner does not respond within 7 days, a new winner may be selected.

7. Use of Entries
By entering, participants grant Demelza Charity and Trail with a Tale the right to use submitted photos for promotional purposes, including social media, website, and marketing materials.

8. Data Protection
Any personal data provided will be processed in accordance with UK data protection laws and will only be used for the administration of this competition.

9. General
The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
